Rostelecom will provide 3,134 healthcare bodies with High Speed Internet Access in 2017

October 20, 2017, Moscow – Rostelecom PJSC (MOEX: RTKM, RTKMP; OTCQX: ROSYY) announces that it has entered into a Service Agreement with the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications to provide state and municipal healthcare organizations with High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) in 2017.

Earlier, on 29th of September 2017, the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation (¹2094-đ) was issued to appoint Rostelecom the sole HSIA provider in 2017 across Russian territory.

By the end of the year the overall number of 3,134 healthcare entities will have been provided with Internet access, and the project will generate an estimated RUB 1.93 billion of revenue in 2017. The organizations will be connected via fibre-optic communication cables with each connection’s data transfer rate of no less than 10 Mb/s.

The infrastructure developed by Rostelecom will allow broader use of telemedical technologies and thus, higher quality of care.

According to preliminary estimations, in order to fully implement the Russian President’s order, more than 13,890 medical entities will have to be provided with HSIA by the end of 2018.
